Privacy policy

Common Ground helps people in the ecstatic dance, contact improvisation and soft acrobatics communities find events. It is built to know as little about you as it can. This page says what it does keep.
What stays on your phone
- A random number the page makes the first time you open it (not your name, email or phone number). It is sent along when you add an event, so what you add can be counted as yours.
- The kinds of event and areas you picked, and when you last looked.
What we keep
- Events people add: what is publicly announced on a flyer or page (name, time, place, who puts it on, cost, link, description) and the picture. Please share only what is already public.
- If you turn on alerts: the address your browser's push service gives us for your device, and your picks (kinds, areas, and a "near me" location rounded to about 1 km) so we know which events to tell you about, and your time zone.
- If you sign up for text messages: your mobile number, the time you agreed, and the wording you agreed to. See Text messages.
- If you add yourself as a host or facilitator: the name you chose, shown on that event, and a note in the event's history of what you changed.
What we do not keep
- No IP addresses and no logs of who looked at what. Our host does not keep request logs for this site.
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, no analytics.
- Recordings of announcements are turned into text and the audio is thrown away.
Who else handles information
- Cloudflare runs the site and its database and pictures.
- Anthropic (the Claude API) reads flyer pictures, event pages and the text of announcements to fill in an event. Only what is on the flyer or in the announcement is sent.
- Your browser's push service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft) delivers alerts.
- Twilio sends text messages, for people who signed up for them.
We do not sell personal information. Mobile numbers and text-message opt-in information are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with Twilio, which sends the messages for us.
Your choices
- Turn alerts off any time in the app (the Alerts button). That deletes the address we hold for your device.
- Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Ask us to delete your number and we will.
- To see or delete anything we hold about you, write to hello@common-ground.dance.
Children
Common Ground is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
